Frequently asked questions

Where is my garden data stored?

Only on your iPhone. There's no account and nothing is uploaded. Your data is included in your iCloud or computer backup, depending on your Apple settings.

How do I move my gardens to a new phone?

If you restore your new iPhone from a backup, your gardens come along. You can also go to Settings → Export garden data, save or send the file, then use Settings → Import garden data on the new phone. Importing replaces the gardens currently on that phone.

What do the evidence ratings mean?

Well supported: backed by research, or a clear physical reason like shade, support, or a shared disease. Some evidence: some studies support it, but results are mixed or depend on conditions. Traditional: long-standing gardener wisdom that hasn't been well tested.

Can I hide the folklore?

Yes. Turn off Settings → Show traditional pairings, and only pairings with some evidence or better will appear.

A pairing looks wrong, or a plant is missing.

Please tell us! Open the pairing and tap Report an issue, or email us. We update the plant catalog regularly, and you'll get improvements automatically without a full app update.

Does Garden Buds work offline?

Yes, everything works without a connection. The app only goes online to download updates and when you open a source link.

How does the bed planner decide what's a conflict?

Each square checks the eight squares around it. A red outline means a plant is next to one it doesn't get along with; a green outline means it's next to a good companion. The verdict at the top of the bed also considers plants that aren't adjacent, since things like shared diseases can travel across a bed.

How do I see the introduction again?

Go to Settings → Watch the introduction.

Is there an Android or iPad version?

Not yet. Garden Buds is currently for iPhone. Email us if you'd like to see it on another device.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual gardens or beds in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your phone. We don't hold any copy.
