Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
In short: Garden Buds does not collect, store, or share your personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Everything you create stays on your device.
This policy explains how the Garden Buds iPhone app ("Garden Buds", "we", "us") handles information.
Information we collect
None. Garden Buds does not ask you to create an account and does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information. We do not use analytics or advertising software, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
Data you create in the app
Your gardens, beds, plant layouts, favorites, recently viewed plants, and settings are stored only on your device. We cannot see or access them.
- Device backups. Like most apps, this data is included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backups, according to your Apple settings. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
- Export. If you use "Export garden data", the app creates a file and opens the share sheet. Where that file goes is up to you.
- Deleting your data. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.
Network connections
Garden Buds works offline. It connects to the internet only in these cases:
- App updates. The app checks for and downloads content and bug-fix updates from Expo's update service (EAS Update). These requests include technical information needed to deliver the right update, such as the app version, update channel, and platform, and, like any internet request, your device's IP address. They do not include anything you've created in the app. See Expo's privacy policy.
- Source links. If you tap a source citation, it opens in an in-app browser. The website you visit has its own privacy policy.
- Feedback. If you choose "Send feedback" or "Report an issue", your own email app opens with a pre-filled message, which includes basic app diagnostics (app version, catalog version, update channel). Nothing is sent unless you send the email. We use what you send only to reply and to improve the app.
Crash reports from Apple
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash reports and usage statistics. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Garden Buds is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If the app ever starts collecting data, we'll explain it here before that happens.
